WOMAN SOUL – A Multimedia Exhibit on Transsexual Women
We call them ladyboys, bading, baklas… and we stereotype them as dancers and entertainers.
But what if we started looking at who they really are?
What if we started listening to them?
We would then discover that transsexual women in the Philippines are totally different from the usual cliché. They are also businesswomen, political candidates, or human rights advocates invited to speak at the United Nations. Here is proof that they are indeed much more than entertainers.
This exhibit takes you to a multi-sensory journey through the lives of Filipino transsexual women, where you would be able to see and listen to the struggle of 6 individuals as they affirm their sexual identity, despite the rejection and discrimination of family and society.
Come and listen to their stories.
Because knowledge stops discrimination.
WOMAN SOUL will be launched on Tuesday, March 8th, at 6 30 PM, at the Alliance Française de Manille, 239 Nicanor Garcia, Makati City. Some of the people portrayed will be present.
WOMAN SOUL is sponsored by the United Nations Development Programme ; and will also be shown in Cebu and Davao.
