Around 4,500 women in the Philippines die annually due to prenatal and neonatal complications. These deaths could have been prevented easily if only proper maternal care were given.More than any poverty reduction agenda, there is an urgent need today for an enabling law that will make comprehensive reproductive health care and general medical services accessible to everyone especially women from the marginalized sector.
